Pilot terms: Your Evenings Shopify app (private pilot)
Last updated 24 October 2026. Version: pilot-terms-v1.
These terms are between Your Evenings Ltd (company number 17185055, 66 Paul Street, London, EC2A 4NA, hello@yourevenings.com) ("we", "us") and the business that installs the pilot app ("you"). The pilot is for businesses only.
1. What the pilot is
- A private pilot for about 5 Shopify stores. The app is installed by a private link (Shopify "custom distribution"), not from the Shopify App Store.
- The app checks your variants and, on the variants you confirm, records Shopify's "Has no standardized identifier" declaration (EU code Y081) in bulk ("the bulk tick"). This matters for customs declarations for parcels sent to EU shoppers (distance sales up to €150), where an item with no standard barcode is declared with code Y081. It also gives you a preview before anything is written, an undo for each run, and a log you can download of what was ticked and when, and by whom where Shopify provides it.
- It's a pilot. The app is new and may change during the pilot.
2. Price
The pilot is free. There is no charge for installing or using the app during the pilot.
2a. Joining
- To join, email hello@yourevenings.com from the address you use for your store, saying "I agree to pilot-terms-v1". We record your shop domain, that email address, the terms version (pilot-terms-v1) and the time you agreed.
- Feedback may be quoted. Feedback you give during the pilot may be quoted publicly with your store name (see section 6).
- We then send you a private install link for your store. The bulk tick stays switched off for your store until you have both agreed to these terms and installed the app, and until we switch it on for the pilot. The checks, lists and downloads work from the start.
- If we change these terms, we'll ask you to agree again before the bulk tick can be used.
3. What you should know before joining
- It uses a Shopify API marked for early testing. The tick is currently only in Shopify's "unstable" API (which Shopify's docs describe as for early testing) and the 2027-01 release candidate, not yet in a stable version. Shopify staff expect it in the stable API from 1 January 2027, and we'll move the app over when it is. Until then, Shopify could change it without notice.
- Your confirmation is what keeps it right. Shopify doesn't stop a wrong tick: in our tests it accepted "no standardized identifier" on a variant that already had a real barcode. It also treats any number that passes the check-digit test as a barcode, including placeholders like 0000000000000. The app checks for these, but please read the preview before you confirm.
- We can switch the bulk tick off. If anything looks wrong, or Shopify changes the API, we can turn the bulk tick off for every pilot store straight away. The checks, the lists and your download files keep working. Anything already ticked stays as it is in your admin, and you can still undo a run.
- Keep a backup. Export your products to CSV before your first run, and download the log after each run. Undo only reverses the tick on variants the app itself changed.
- Ticking it doesn't make it reach customs yet. On 20 October Shopify staff said passing this declaration through to customs paperwork and carriers "isn't live just yet". Check with your carrier or whoever files your declarations how they'll pick it up.
- You stay responsible for the declaration. The app records what you confirm. This is a data check, not legal or customs advice. We are not a customs broker.
Shopify's own wording is that the unstable version is "Use it for early testing only" (About Shopify API versioning).
4. Switching the bulk tick off
We may switch the bulk tick off at any time, for any or all pilot stores, without notice. We'll tell you when we do and why.
5. Your responsibilities
- Backups. Before your first run, export your products to CSV. After each run, download the log. Undo reverses only ticks the app itself made; it doesn't reverse changes made by anyone or anything else.
- You confirm each declaration. The app only writes a tick after you confirm, for the variants shown, that none of them has a manufacturer barcode (GTIN, EAN, UPC or ISBN). Please check the preview before you apply it.
- You stay responsible for your customs declarations. The app records what you confirm. This is a data check, not legal or customs advice. We are not a customs broker.
- It doesn't reach customs yet. On 20 October Shopify staff said passing this declaration through to customs paperwork and carriers "isn't live just yet" (Shopify developer community, 20 Oct 2026). Check with your carrier, or whoever files your declarations, how they'll pick it up.
- Give the app access only to a store you're authorised to manage, and let us know promptly if something looks wrong.
6. Feedback
We'll ask for a few minutes of feedback after each run. By joining, you agree that we may use your feedback to improve the app, and may quote feedback you give during the pilot publicly (for example on our website or in posts) with your store name. We won't publish your own name or email address with a quote. If you'd rather not be quoted, say so in your email when you join, or at any time afterwards, and we won't quote you from then on.
7. No warranty
- We don't promise that customs authorities, Shopify or any carrier will accept or use the data the app records or produces.
- The app is provided "as is" for the pilot. We'll take reasonable care, but we don't promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that Shopify won't change or remove the API it relies on.
8. Liability
- Our total liability to you under or in connection with the pilot is capped at £100 (one hundred pounds sterling).
- We aren't liable for loss of profit, loss of business, or indirect or consequential loss.
- Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law (for example for fraud, or death or personal injury caused by negligence).
9. Ending the pilot
- Either of us can end the pilot at any time, for any reason, by giving notice to the other (email is enough; for you, uninstalling the app also ends your participation).
- The pilot ends anyway on 31 January 2027.
- Before you uninstall, download your log. 48 hours after you uninstall, Shopify asks us to delete your shop's data, and we then delete everything we hold for your store, including the log and that shop's kill-switch records. Ticks already made stay in your Shopify admin.
10. Your data
How we handle data is in our pilot privacy notice at yourevenings.com/pilot/privacy. In short, the app asks only for Shopify's write_products permission (which includes reading products), and doesn't see your customers or orders. Its database is stored in the EU.
11. General
- These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction.
- These terms, with the privacy policy, are the whole agreement for the pilot. We may update them during the pilot; we'll tell you first, and if you don't agree you can end the pilot.
